Pakistan Super League (PSL) started back in 2016 and by now, the record books are brimming with PSL statistics and record. Whether it’s the highest runs scored in a season to most number of wickets overall, most dismissals by a wicketkeeper to best bowling figures, and highest individual scores to other miscellaneous records, PSL has been an enthralling event, making us stick to the television screens during the PSL season. With this season of PSL offering more big names and more number of matches in Pakistan, the excitement is already skyrocketing. PSL 2025 is set to start from 13 February 2025 with a glamorous opening ceremony in Multan followed by an enthralling contest between the Multan Sultan’s and Lahore Qalandars. PSL Stat: Most Runs

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been a spectacular display of cricketing talent and prowess over the years. Amongst the many records that have been broken and created, the most runs in PSL so far has been a much-debated topic. The current holder of the record is Baber Azam, who has scored 2,413 runs at an average of 42.33 and a strike rate of 121.13 in 66 innings he has played in PSL history. The talented Peshawar Zalmi skipper is a consistent performer in the tournament and has been instrumental in guiding his team, Peshawar Zalmi, to multiple victories. Other notable players who have been consistent in their performance and are chasing Akmal’s record include Shoaib Malik, and Ahmed Shehzad. It will be interesting to see who eventually emerges as the top scorer in PSL’s history.

Most Wickets

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has witnessed some of the finest bowling performances over the years. The competition has seen some incredible talents, and among them, the player who stands out as the overall most wicket-taker is Wahab Riaz. The left-arm fast bowler has been a consistent performer in the league, picking up 103 wickets in 77 matches. He has an impressive average of 19.50 and a strike rate of 16.10. Wahab’s ability to bowl yorkers and his variations make him a lethal bowler in the death overs. He has been a crucial player for his team, Peshawar Zalmi, and his performances have made him one of the most valuable assets in the PSL.

Most Sixes

Kamran Akmal, the veteran Pakistani cricketer,  smashed the most number of sixes in the PSL history, with a staggering 89 sixes in 74 innings played. Akmal, who plays for Peshawar Zalmi, has been a consistent performer in the league since its inception in 2016. The wicketkeeper-batsman has scored a total of 1776 runs in PSL history, making him the fourth-highest run-scorer in the tournament. His strike rate of 137.44 is also one of the best in the league, indicating his ability to score runs quickly and efficiently.

Akmal’s ability to hit the ball out of the park has been a major factor in his success in the PSL. He has played some memorable innings, including a 77-ball 104 against Lahore Qalandars in the 2018 edition, where he smashed seven sixes and nine fours.

His exceptional form with the bat has also earned him a place in the national team. He has played for Pakistan in all three formats and has been a regular member of the T20 squad.

With his remarkable feat of hitting the most number of sixes in PSL history, Kamran Akmal has proved that he is one of the most talented and consistent batsmen in the league. His contribution to the PSL has been immense, and he continues to be a vital player for Peshawar Zalmi in the ongoing season.

Highest Totals

In the 2021 PSL season, Islamabad United set a new record for the highest team total in the league’s history by scoring 247/2 against Peshawar Zalmi. Usman Khawaja’s unbeaten century led the team to victory, as they took on a strong Zalmi bowling unit. The second-highest PSL total was achieved by Multan Sultans in PSL 7, scoring 245/3 against Quetta Gladiators. Islamabad United also hold the third and fifth highest scores in PSL history, with scores of 238/3 against Lahore Qalandars in PSL 4 and 229/4 against Quetta Gladiators in PSL 7. Peshawar Zalmi registered the fourth-highest score against Islamabad United in PSL 6, managing 232/6 in their 20 overs. With the new PSL season approaching, it remains to be seen which franchise will set a new record for the highest total in PSL history.

Most Catches

In the history of PSL, Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan’s team, has recorded the most catches with a total of 39 catches in 67 innings. Following him is all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz with 34 catches in 66 innings, and Fakhar Zaman and Asif Ali share the third spot with 29 catches each. However, Babar Azam has the highest average catches per innings among all the players, which is 0.582, whereas Nawaz’s average is 0.515 catches per innings. Iftikhar Ahmed has also performed well, taking 27 catches in 48 innings.
