The upcoming Pakistan Super League season promises to be the grandest yet, as six competing teams vie for the highly-coveted PSL title. These teams have recently finalized their PSL 2025 squad and have added impressive talent to their already formidable line-ups. Each PSL 8 team is composed of 18 players, featuring a combination of local and international stars, as well as up-and-coming players from around the country.

The drafting process was used to finalize the PSL 8 teams’ squad . These players were categorized into six groups: platinum, diamond, gold, silver, emerging, and supplementary. Each team was permitted to keep a maximum of eight players from the previous season’s squad prior to the PSL 2025 draft.

Peshawar Zalmi

Peshawar Zalmi’s aspiration to redeem themselves in PSL 8, following their unimpressive performance in PSL 7, has been bolstered by their acquisition of Pakistan’s esteemed all-format captain, Babar Azam, in a significant trade with Karachi Kings.

Peshawar has invested profoundly in youthful talent, including the likes of Saim Ayub, Haseebullah, and Danish Aziz, whilst also securing the services of T20 superstars such as Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Jimmy Neesham, and Mujeeb-ur-Rahman. Combined with the experience of Wahab Riaz and Babar Azam, the Zalmi squad appears to be a dominant force.

Karachi Kings

In the forthcoming PSL 8, Peshawar Zalmi will endeavor to return to form and secure a strong position in the tournament after Karachi Kings’ subpar performance in PSL 7, where they ended up in the last place with a mere one win. To enhance their chances, they have brought in Haider Ali and Shoaib Malik, replacing Babar Azam.

Under the leadership of Imad Wasim, the squad has also acquired the services of exceptional players like Matthew Wade, Imran Tahir, and Andrew Tye, complementing their already formidable lineup, including the likes of Sharjeel Khan, Mohammad Amir, and Qasim Akram. The presence of veteran players Shoaib Malik and Imad Wasim has significantly strengthened Karachi’s squad, making it a far more formidable side than its previous iteration.

All things considered, Karachi Kings’ PSL 8 squad is well-equipped to advance to the playoffs once again.

Islamabad United

As the sole team to clinch multiple championships in PSL history, Islamabad United is eager to uphold their unbeaten record and seize the coveted PSL 8 title. They have established themselves as one of the most exhilarating teams in PSL history, showcasing an alluring and aggressive approach to cricket. Despite a setback in the playoffs of the previous season, Islamabad United enters PSL 8 with a more astute recruiting strategy, making them better equipped for the challenges ahead.

Led by the accomplished Shadab Khan, their lineup boasts some of the most thrilling batsmen in the league, including Alex Hales, Colin Munro, Paul Stirling, Azam Khan, and Asif Ali. In addition, their bowling department is fortified by the addition of Abrar Ahmed and Rumman Raees, and the English all-rounder Moeen Ali.

Undoubtedly, Islamabad United’s PSL 8 squad appears to be meticulously balanced, and has the potential to emerge as one of the strongest sides in the tournament.

Lahore Qalandars

The Lahore Qalandars, reigning champions of the PSL, have set their sights on becoming the first team in the tournament’s history to successfully defend their title and claim their second championship win. Spearheaded by Shaheen Afridi, the Qalandars’ star-studded roster includes the likes of Rashid Khan, Haris Rauf, and Fakhar Zaman, while recent acquisitions such as Sikandar Raza and Liam Dawson have taken the place of Mohammad Hafeez and Samit Patel. Multan Sultans

The finalists of the previous year, Multan Sultans, are resolute in their aim to ascend one level higher and obtain their second PSL title. This team has been among the most consistent in the recent PSL seasons, attaining victory in PSL 6 and earning the position of runners-up in PSL 7. The Multan Sultans squad PSL 2025 is more impressive than ever before, and they are strong contenders to clinch the PSL 8 championship.

The squad, led by Mohammad Rizwan, has added even more firepower to their already potent team. With players like Tim David, Rilee Rossouw, Shan Masood, and Shahnawaz Dahani in their ranks, they have further enhanced their team by enlisting the services of David Miller, Josh Little, and Akeal Hosein.

Quetta Gladiators

The Quetta Gladiators are poised for a resurgence in PSL 8 following a disappointing showing in the previous edition. The team has made significant additions to their lineup, with the likes of Wanindu Hasaranga, Martin Guptill, and Odean Smith providing a much-needed boost to their roster.

Moreover, Quetta’s bowling unit, comprising of Naseem Shah, Mohammad Hasnian, Hasaranga, Mohammad Nawaz, and Naveen-ul-Haq, has brought much-needed balance to their squad. Combined with the explosive batting of Will Smeed, Jason Roy, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Umar Akmal, Quetta appears to have all their bases covered.

All in all, the Quetta Gladiators’ PSL 8 squad is shaping up to be a formidable force, with the potential to go all the way.
